Foster + Partners has completed the 270 Park Avenue skyscraper in Manhattan, the new headquarters of JPMorgan Chase. At 423.1 meters tall, it is now the sixth tallest building in New York and redefines the Midtown skyline with its stepped silhouette and bronze structure contrasting with the glass curtain walls.
The building stands on the site of the former Union Carbide building, designed by SOM in the 1960s, which was demolished to make way for a tower capable of accommodating 10,000 employees. 270 Park Avenue not only expands the company’s capacity, but also establishes itself as a new symbol of contemporary corporate architecture in Manhattan.
