A step closer to Nashville!

Hi! I’m Mariana,

I’m an architect from Mexico, and this summer I’ll be joining Mark Poe Builders in Nashville, Tennessee as an intern! I recently attended my U.S. embassy appointment to get my J-1 visa, and I wanted to share a bit about my experience for anyone thinking of following a similar path.

When I was first offered this incredible opportunity to gain experience in the United States, I had no idea what the J-1 visa process involved. Fortunately, I found the Architect-US J1 Visa Program, and that made all the difference. Both my host company and the Architect-US team kindly and clearly supported me every step of the way, making the whole process so much smoother and easier to navigate.

From the very beginning, they helped me organize all the necessary paperwork, explained what to expect during the embassy appointment, and even shared tips to help me approach the interview with confidence. Their support was truly invaluable—it eased my nerves and gave me the clarity I needed. Thanks to their help, my visa application was approved without any issues, and now I’m incredibly excited to begin this new chapter.

To me, this opportunity is more than just a work experience. It’s a meaningful step in both my personal and professional journey. It’s a dream with purpose—a chance to learn, grow, and explore architecture in a new cultural and professional setting. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, embracing challenges, and gaining fresh perspectives that will shape my future as an architect.

If you’re thinking of doing something similar, I encourage you to believe in yourself. Seek out opportunities, connect with people who inspire you, and don’t let fear hold you back. The process might seem complex, but with the right guidance and determination, it’s completely possible. Embrace the adventure—it’s so worth it!
