New house in Virginia with “exoskeleton” structure

American designer Ben Pennell, along with students from Virginia Tech, built an experimental house in Christiansburg, Virginia, with an exoskeletal structure that defies traditional methods. Using simple materials in complex forms, the team erected most of the home with their own hands on a sloping site, where rocks excavated from the foundation were reused around the base to integrate it into the landscape.
