Third Month – September

Hi everyone,

A quarter of my trainee program has already gone, without even realizing! Things has started to calm down and now I begin to feel «at home».

September has been a quiet month, the most one since I started this new experience. It has been a time to enjoy San Diego; to discover amazing rooftops in Downtown, to visit the famous seals from la Jolla Beach and to play beach volley in Mission Beach, among others. It has also been a period to meet new people, make new friends and attend authentic «San Diegan» plans, as for example, watching a baseball match in the Petco Park stadium; what an experience!

However, what I would like to highlight more in this post is surfing! It has been a really important part during the last 30 days and has become a new element in my weekly routine. It has also allowed me to discover amazing beaches all over the South California coast, as well as, to meet new people and join the amazing surf community of surfers from San Diego, really welcoming and open to help me to improve my technique.

Regarding my job in HMC Architects, it has been a really chaotic time. I have been involved in a great number of riveting projects, supporting the team in different stages of the process, from conceptual design to construction documents. In addition, I believe they are starting to appreciate my work and I am taking over more responsibility.

See you the next month.

PD: For all those enrolled in a J1 visa program, if you want to make a trip and leave the country remember to send your DS2019 as soon as possible to be signed by the Chamber. I had to cancel a trip to Mexico City because of that.
