Happy New Year From NYC!

First of all, Happy New Year everyone! As I told you in my last post, these were the first Christmas holidays that I spent away from home.

It is the most special time of the year. I am very grateful to have been able to spend it in one of the best cities in the world. I felt like in a movie. There are so many movies set in New York City at Christmas, some are ones of my favorites. Serendipity, Home alone, You’ve got mail, When Harry met Sally…. (I think you have got an idea).

On New Year’s Eve, at 6:00 p.m. we switched on the TV with the Spanish channels so that we could eat the 12 grapes, to welcome the New Year as we do every year, with the rest of the family. Later on, my family and I went with Maria (my new best friend) to a Mexican restaurant to celebrate New Year’s Eve. We ended up watching the Times Square fireworks from the rooftop of the building I am living in the city. It was such an incredible experience!! I will never forget this moment!!

With the new year, came the goodbyes. My family had to return to Madrid but my boyfriend was still in New York with me.
To celebrate The three wise men eve, we went to buy a ‘roscón de Reyes’ at little Spain, thank goodness they had it. I never thought that I will be spending ‘el día de Los Reyes Magos’ in New York, let alone having roscón de Reyes!!

What I didn’t know was that the gift waiting for me the next day was a positive covid test. I had to spend 5 days in quarantine, working from home. Luckily, I love my little NYC home.

A winter storm is approaching the city! I will tell you about it in my next post!

Stay warm!
