Honeymoon Island has a spectacular beach and a sweet name. The sand is like white powder, and the water is warm with a beautiful blue/green color. For these reasons, it is also a favorite beach for a populous urban area. The beauty of Honeymoon Island is that even though it attracts crowds, you can still find beauty, solitude, and nature. It’s an unusual combination of an accessible beach with lots of parking, numerous nature-based activities, wooded hiking trails, nature center with scenic view, and everything you need for food & drinks.
In a few words…a spectacular and unique place!
If you go to the Honeymoon Island State Park, you should know that the first beach you come to, labeled Main Beach, is deep and wide with that fine-grained white sand you find at the best of the Gulf’s beaches. South of this beach, very near the entrance to the island, is Pet Beach. This beach faces on Hurricane Pass, a good place for fishing but a somewhat hazardous location for swimming.
Hurricane Pass separates Honeymoon Island from nearby Caladesi State Park. These two islands were one before the 1921 hurricane blew through.
I have to say that the Honeymoon Beach is for sure the best beach where I have ever been to Florida!
