One of the great advantages of living in Los Angeles is that you literally have hundreds of Modernist architectural masterpieces to visit. In this occasion, I visited the Kings Road house in West Hollywood, California by architect Rudolph Schindler.
The building has now been reconverted into the MAK Center for Art and Architecture so it’s open to the public.
The house was originally designed for himself and his wife Pauline and for their friends Clyde and Marian Chace.
It is considered by many to be the first Modernist house in California and some architectural historians consider it the first Modernist house in the United States.
