Asturias Festival in New York City!
Yeeees!! God heard me and brought me some delicious food and drinks from Asturias! Some weeks ago I found a flyer in my hands about a festival of Asturias here in New York and I couldn’t miss it.
It was organized by ‘El Círculo Asturiano de NY’ in Hewleet, in the outskirts of the city, near Brooklyn. It was an outdoor festival in a great park where enjoying the nature around the city.
I was so excited!! There were typical food from my region, cider and “gaiteros” I had the chance also to meet incredible people who have been living here all their lives and they gave me a lot of advice about living here… It was so nice to have here a bit of my roots.
I met an amazing and courageous woman who is living here for near 70 years. We were talking during a long time and it was really touching sharing our stories and impressions. I think she saw herself on me when she was a really young girl who began a new life in the other side of the sea with emotion and different feelings. I think that it has helped me a lot to see differently what is going on around myself and to continue fighting for what I want.
I am really grateful to that woman, maybe, Was I who saw myself on her?
