For me, I began telling; was because of its military and economic system. Curiously, the same point of view in most of the European people that I have talked to. However, that’s not a reason, that’s just what happens nowadays, but, what leaded them to be the First world potency?
His answer was just a word: “amnesia”. That’s all. Amnesia as a result of the massive immigration from countries like Italy or Ireland centuries ago. Amnesia because their history is (like in New York), just Holland history, and Spanish, British, French… Its music, has their origins in Africa, but also in Europe, that’s why Blues, or Jazz, are originally from here. Amnesia cause if you have children here, in two generations, they will be totally American, and will have forgotten their elders countries. And that’s why they’re all together. Ok, minorities are still a controversial issue here, and that “Yankee and southern” stuff is very common, but not as in Spain. It’s all about money.
Anyway, they are proud of being American, and see Europe as a group of children or families that have been fighting for nothing heir whole history.
Amnesia, makes unity possible in the states, and that’s amazing. Maybe we could learn something about that. And that’s why if you come here, you will feel like home, because «nobody» is from here, and they are kind. Maybe, its true, and this is the new world, to find new opportunities.
