The past month at ASGG has been both exciting and rewarding. I’ve had the opportunity to work on a master planning project, which has opened my eyes to how architecture is designed with people in mind. It’s fascinating to learn how spaces are planned even before any buildings are constructed. Understanding how elements like water features, parks, and pathways fit together has deepened my appreciation for urban design and its role in enhancing our daily lives.
One of the highlights has been working with a talented team of designers. Together, we’ve developed different schemes and massing models for a new project. Collaborating with so many creative individuals has helped me learn more about design principles and allowed me to meet new colleagues. Their diverse perspectives have made the office an inspiring place to work.
Outside of work, I’ve been enjoying the last bits of summer in Chicago. In my free time, I’ve explored different neighbourhoods and soaked in the vibrant culture of the city. Last weekend, I visited the Museum of Science and Industry, where I enjoyed exhibits on automotive history, science, and American innovation. One of my favourite experiences was stepping inside a converted airplane; it was amazing to see how aviation has evolved. I was also fascinated by the submarine in the basement, showcasing impressive engineering from the past.
Reflecting on this month, I feel a strong sense of personal and professional growth. My hands-on experience at ASGG, along with my explorations around Chicago, has deepened my understanding of architecture and its impact on communities. I’ve learned how important collaboration is and how diverse perspectives can help create spaces that truly meet people’s needs.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to take on more challenges at ASGG and work on projects that enhance urban living. At the same time, I want to continue exploring Chicago—discovering new neighbourhoods and immersing myself in the city’s rich history and culture. I believe this balance of work and leisure is vital for my development, and I’m eager to see how these experiences will shape my future. Each day brings new lessons and opportunities, and I’m ready to embrace them all!
