PRE DEPARTURE BLOG Copia

A few months ago I started to wonder what I wanted my life to be once I finish my architecture degree, I had a six month gap between the end of muy career and the strart of any master’s degree, and I felt like I didn’t want to spend this time in Spain. I have always wanted to travel and live abroad. One day, at the begining of the semester, Patricia came to the university to talk about Architect-US, and tell us about the possibility of working in the US as a part of a cultural exchange program, and suddenly It all made sense.

My case was kind of special because of my limited availability, It was necesary for me to start the program by february in order to be back in september to start my master’s degree so it all had to happen in a very short period of time. I talked to Sonia about my concerns but she told me that with a portfolio as strong as mine it was possible to made it. So I entered in the pool of candidates by the end of october and in a month I already had an offer to work in a studio in Philadelphia. I couldn’t believe it, my dream was closer and closer.

The next step was to get my Embassy appoinment and although a lot of paperwork is necesary to get the J-1 Visa, Sonia has been there helping me during the entire process and aswering each and all of my questions about the program. Thanks to that, I went to the Embassy last week and the process was very smoothly, all the forms were correct and the interview didn’t last longer than ten minutes. Now I am waiting for my visa to arrive and once I get it, everythig will be ready to start my adventure in the US!

Keep posted, I will be reporting my adventure in Philadelphia for the next months!
