That\u00b4s what my friends and people who already lived in LA<\/strong> were telling me before I\u00a0came here. Of course I\u00a0didn\u00b4t take it very seriously because I\u00a0have lived in big cities before and since there\u00b4s a\u00a0public transport or I\u00a0can just walk, I\u00a0thought they\u00b4re just exaggerating.<\/p>\n

It has been more than a\u00a0month since I\u00a0arrived to Los Angeles and I\u00a0have to admit that, in part, they were right. I\u00a0am starting to realize how big the city is and\u00a0how difficult it is to get from one part of the city to another. Having a\u00a0car and commute is a\u00a0very important part of people\u00b4s life here, I\u00a0think more than anywhere in the United States.<\/p>\n

\n

You have to choose very carefully in which area you want to live and how far it is going to be from your work.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I\u00a0was very lucky to\u00a0find an apartment in Santa Monica<\/strong>, just 15 minutes walk from the company where I\u00a0work. It makes my life much easier considering that some of my colleagues spend more than 2 hours commuting every day. I\u00a0used to live in Paris which is a\u00a0big city as well but the public transport works there very well so you can easily get wherever you want within 30 minutes. So moving to Los Angeles was a\u00a0big change for me. The most frequently asked questions by me now are “How can I\u00a0get there?” or “How long will it take to get there?”.<\/p>\n

However, there are ways how to survive in LA without a\u00a0car<\/strong>, you just have to be ready to spend more time to get where you want to. Upon my arrival I\u00a0was quite surprised by the amount of people using other ways of transportation, so it\u00b4s just a\u00a0myth that everybody\u00b4s got a\u00a0car here. So many people are using bikes, “birds” ( that\u00b4s how the rentable scooters are called here \ud83d\ude42 ), buses or metro.<\/p>\n

I\u00b4m not planning to buy a\u00a0car, so far it works for me walking and using public transport but I\u00b4ll see what the future brings, maybe I\u00b4ll change my mind soon \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
