Hi everyone!<\/strong><\/h1>\n

My name is Sara, and I’m an architect based in Milan<\/strong>, Italy<\/strong>. In just a few weeks, I’ll be trading the streets of the Duomo<\/strong> for the skyline of New York City. I’m about to begin an 18-month Architecture and Engineering Traineeship Program at S9 Architecture and Engineering<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

My background in Milan<\/strong><\/h1>\n

I studied at Politecnico di Milano, where I earned my Master’s degree in Building Architecture<\/strong> in April 2022. Since then, I’ve been working as a licensed architect in international architecture studios in Milan. During this time, I’ve had the chance to explore a wide range of fields, including public spaces, hospitality, landscape<\/strong> design<\/strong>, renovation, and logistics.<\/p>\n

Overall, Milan has been a wonderful place to grow as a professional. It’s a city where historic architecture and cutting-edge design are in constant dialogue. As a result, I learned to balance creativity with the technical precision this profession demands.<\/p>\n

How I found Architect US<\/strong><\/h1>\n

I first came across Architect US<\/strong> while doing some research online. After speaking with the team, I decided to join the program. To start, I had my resume and portfolio evaluated by the Architect US committee. In turn, they gave me useful tips to improve my documentation before joining the pool of candidates.<\/p>\n

At that point, my first choices for my traineeship were Chicago<\/strong>, Boston<\/strong>, and New York<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Eight months to New York<\/strong><\/h1>\n

From there, it took eight months to find the right architecture company to welcome me for this experience. During that time, I received steady guidance and support. First, I was helped by the Architect US advisors. Later, my sponsor stepped in to help me navigate all the documentation required for the J-1 visa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What’s next<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Right now, I’m waiting on the very last step of this journey: my consulate appointment. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly, because I can’t wait to finally get my visa. Soon, I’ll start this new chapter of my life in New York!<\/p>\n
