Sn\u00f8hetta has designed the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota, as a piece of architecture that appears to emerge from the landscape itself. Set on a hill overlooking Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the building blends into the Badlands through timber and earth volumes topped by a large green roof shaped like a hill.<\/p>\n
The planted roof rises above the interior spaces and reconnects with the ground, adapting to the prairies, ravines and plateaus shaped by ancient erosion. The result is an intervention that stands out without imposing itself, creating a calm presence in dialogue with the age and natural force of the surrounding hills.<\/p>\n
