It\u2019s been just over two months since I arrived in New York<\/strong>, and if there\u2019s one thing that stands out, it\u2019s that this city never pauses. From street fairs and gallery openings to rooftop concerts and the constant energy of people on the move, the atmosphere is dynamic. It can be overwhelming at times, especially when you’re still learning where you belong within it, but it\u2019s also incredibly motivating!<\/p>\n

Summer here has been nothing short of extreme, with heatwaves followed by sudden downpours. Thankfully, air conditioning is a standard feature in nearly every interior space, offering a much-needed break from the elements during long walks or subway rides across neighborhoods!<\/p>\n

At Brandon Haw Architecture<\/a>, I\u2019ve been fully immersed in project work, deepening my skills in Revit<\/a><\/strong>, and adjusting to the imperial system! It\u2019s been eye-opening to experience how architectural practice in New York balances tight timelines with an ambitious and design-driven ethos.<\/p>\n

Learning the subway system has been an unexpected challenge \u2014 deciphering the rhythm of express and local trains, understanding service changes, and optimizing daily commutes. But even the most routine ride offers a glimpse into the city\u2019s remarkable cultural diversity. The range of languages, communities, and architectural textures you encounter from one stop to the next makes every journey feel like a discovery.<\/p>\n

While I do miss the familiarity of home, New York<\/strong> offers its own kind of comfort. Whether it\u2019s early morning coffees, runs through Central Park<\/a>, inspiring visits to The Met<\/a> and MoMA<\/a>, or discovering new restaurants \u2014 the rhythm of the city is starting to feel like my own.<\/p>\n

New York challenges you in all the right ways. It\u2019s a place that encourages growth, demands adaptability, and rewards curiosity. I\u2019m learning not just to keep pace with it, but to thrive within it \u2014 and that\u2019s something I\u2019m truly grateful for.<\/p>\n
