So far, I have been working for almost two months in an architecture studio in New York<\/strong>, that is focused on the rehabilitation of historic public buildings. This experience, although quite recent, has been indescribable and completely relevant in my professional path.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s exciting to work in such a diverse city with a rich history, as it is New York. Contrary to what many might think, I have found incredibly kind people across all sectors. On a personal level, this experience is very exciting. Professionally, it is as well, but it presents its own challenges. Moving to a new country involves not only adapting my knowledge and experiences but also adjusting to a new cultural, social, and work environment<\/p>\n

Particularly in the U.S.<\/strong>, the language barrier and the use of the imperial system instead of the metric system are significant challenges. Coming from a Spanish-speaking country and having to adapt to these changes has been quite a challenge, which I\u2019m sure it will positively impact my professional growth. However, working in a professional environment with clear and well-defined architectural standards, as is the case in the U.S., makes this process smoother.<\/p>\n

Although all these variations may initially pose a huge challenge alongside the occasional feeling of \u201cimpostor syndrome,\u201d I am confident that with time, effort, and a strong desire to learn, anyone can improve and be able to show 100% of the potential in any new work environment.<\/p>\n

Undoubtedly, coming here and seizing this opportunity is one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I hope that if anyone reading this has a similar opportunity, they don\u2019t hesitate to take it. The fear and uncertainty are temporary, but the effects of having this kind of experience in your personal and professional life are everlasting and completely meaningful! I hope to encourage, anyone who is thinking about taking this big step.<\/p>\n
