Her previous experience before joining Woods + Dangaran for her J1 Visa Program includes multiple internships at architecture studios such as: <strong>Norm Architects<\/strong>, <strong>Studio Z<\/strong>, and <strong>Zalando SE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Woods + Dangaran&#8217;s<\/span><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Selected Projects<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4>Moccasin Flats Residences &#8211; Hurricane, UT<\/h4>\n<p>Moccasin Flats Residences, located in Hurricane, Utah, just outside of Zion National Park, are three distinct adjoining residences that embrace the harsh desert surroundings. The long horizontal structures provide privacy, properly frame views of the mesa and the surrounding desert, and create an organic visual contrast to balance the rugged mesa&#8217;s great verticality.<\/p>\n<p>The residences&#8217; substantial front facades fit in with the surroundings, but as soon as one walks inside, they are flooded with natural light from the floor to ceiling windows that face the back of the house. Each home feels airy due to the open floor layouts, 10-foot ceilings, and an abundance of natural light coming in through glass sky bridges, skylights, and atriums. The home&#8217;s shell, which requires a lot of work, is updated to meet modern performance criteria and maintain the structure&#8217;s longevity. This house is updated for comfort and modern living with minor changes made to the kitchen and bathroom layouts.<\/p>\n<p>An informed blend of custom contemporary and original mid-century furnishings is meticulously scaled into the compact, open living room, which measures only 1,700 square feet. Natural materials extend the original detailing&#8217;s purpose throughout the entire house. The low-scale structure has a purposely low profile in comparison to the adjacent mountains, with a lower level nestled into the gradual slope. Its materials blend well with the region&#8217;s tones, textures, climate, and the movement of the sun over uninterrupted views of Red Rock Canyon and, in the distant, the Las Vegas Strip. Plaster-clad volumes of the house alter views of the surrounding landscape.<\/p>\n<p>The extended, tiered sightlines give residents a smooth and peaceful transition from inside to outside. Huge overhangs that provide shade to the interiors and cool the outdoor decks give the space an intimate scale. Outdoor spaces are positioned to take advantage of daytime shade while emphasizing views of the desert scenery. They provide covered spots for stargazing in the open sky at night.
