He was the winner of the <strong>Liverpool Architecture Society Undergraduate Student Awards<\/strong> in 2018. Toby&#8217;s work experience previous to obrARCHITECTURE includes studios such as <strong>Oldfield Design<\/strong>, <strong>James Tottey Partnership<\/strong>, <strong>BDP Sheffield<\/strong>, and <strong>HOK London<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">obrARCHITECTURE&#8217;s <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Selected Projects<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4>Garret-Gates House &#8211; San Diego, CA<\/h4>\n<p>An existing single-family home in the Mission Hills\/Little Italy neighborhood will be remodeled as part of this project. The current split-level home is encircled by views of the surrounding natural environment and situated inside a canyon. The project&#8217;s objective has been to blur the boundary between the outer environment and the internal residence ever since the clients brought up the name &#8220;treehouse.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The project makes the most of its surroundings while yet giving the clients the seclusion they need thanks to the construction of balconies, the addition of huge windows in certain rooms, and a complete interior makeover. To accommodate the almost 30,000 visitors each day, there are a plethora of activities and events available, ranging from dining establishments and retail stores to conference spaces and student resource centers. University Centers&#8217; main goal is to provide the UCSD community with high-quality resources such as activities, services, and facilities that enhance and promote student learning and the campus environment.<\/p>\n<p>Renovations to the interior dining area with Dirty Birds, new gender-inclusive restrooms, a new outdoor dining area, and new seating and dining areas for public use are all included in the scope of work. The idea behind One Door North, which is located next to The Smoking Goat, is to bring the wonderful outdoors indoors. The restaurant is divided into three distinct sections: the main bar area in the middle, the section facing the street with banquettes, and the section with tents in rear. The restaurant&#8217;s rear wall is covered with floor to ceiling murals of forests, and it is bordered by semi-private 11-foot eating booths and canvas tents in the form of a camp.<\/p>\n<p>The tables and walls are made of hand-carved, live-edge wood from a sustainably logged Wisconsin forest, with themes drawn from the mountains, lakes, and coasts the Piehl family has seen.
