The demand is high, which means landlords can be very selective when choosing tenants. Renters need to provide extensive documentation, including credit scores, proof of employment, and references. A tip for expats\u00a0without a history in the US: a guarantor can help to cut the deposit for your new accommodation.<br \/>\nBe ready for the competition: with so many people moving to the city all year, apartments can be snatched up quickly, leaving you without many options. It happened to me, and it&#8217;s not pleasant!<br \/>\nNevertheless, after days of non-stop research and house viewing, thanks to the assistance of my supervisor, I could find the perfect place for me and my family.<\/p>\n<p>Applying for the <strong>SSN<\/strong> is easy and quick, but getting your card might take some time, in my case up to 4 weeks: consider this issue because it will slow down a lot of other essential duties, such as opening a bank account.<\/p>\n<h3>Around the city<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Downtown Houston<\/strong> is a bustling hub of activity during the week, with thousands of people commuting to work, and running errands. A constant stream of traffic fills the streets, and pedestrians populate the sidewalks. However, the area takes on a very different vibe during the weekend. Most businesses and offices are closed, and the neighborhoods are much quieter, giving an almost desert-like feeling, as few people venture out to walk. The aquarium is home to many fish species, from colorful tropical fish to dangerous sharks and stingrays.
