It’s been almost 3 months since I first landed in NYC<\/strong> and yet everything feels new and exciting. Finding an apartment has been the greatest challenge so far, but here I am, writing you from my new sweet home in Brooklyn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Settling in<\/h2>\n

Finally I’m starting to settle down in all possible ways, making some new friends and finding myself busy the 99% of my time.<\/p>\n

For example, last weekend I had brunch with a couple of friends, went to the Noguchi Museum, played bowling and attended an architecture magazine launch.<\/p>\n

This weekend is going to be super busy too! Since I moved in this new house less than a week ago, this morning I’ll take some time to clean up, buy some groceries and stuff for the house. Then, I’ll visit the Greenpoint Terminal Market<\/strong>, a very nice flea market happening in a sort of parking lot facing the East River<\/strong> in Greenpoint. A (very talented) friend is selling furniture there, so I might also think about buying a nice lamp or a chair to decorate my room.<\/p>\n

Later today, since today it’s the International Cinema Day and movie theatre tickets will only cost 3 dollars (3!!), I’m going to Downtown Brooklyn<\/strong> to see Nope, Jordan Peele new movie. Can’t wait to go there, I really enjoy going to the cinema, the smell of popcorns and cozy feelings.<\/p>\n

Cinema love<\/h2>\n

Speaking of which, I had some really nice unusual cinema experiences during the last month: thanks to the amazing city of New York City<\/strong>, I could attend different free screening events happening everywhere.<\/p>\n

All the locations were outstanding: I’ve seen The Artist<\/em> (Michel Hazanavicious) by the water on Pier I, Vacanze Romane<\/em> (William Wyler) at Elizabeth Garden and the NYC<\/strong> premiere of Bodies Bodies Bodies<\/em> (Halina Reijn) in Fort Greene Park. This last one was particularly interesting as the director as well as some actors were there to present and talk about the making of of the movie. Furthermore, prior to the screening there was some live music going on by the stage.<\/p>\n

Music love<\/h2>\n

During these months I had some pretty good experiences also music wise! I love going to jazz clubs. For the moment, my favourite one is Ornithology, a small jazz club between Bedstuy and Bushwick. They have a great selection of craft beers and delicious food (I recommend taking mushroom bao buns). They also have a very nice small terrace, even though I prefer staying inside, listening to the jazz band.<\/p>\n

Before moving to Williamsburg<\/strong>, I was living in the north side of Bushwick where most of the concert venues are. The vibe of the area is amazing and you can find any sort of band playing in those venues. I’ve been to a couple of concerts and had an amazing time, especially at Broncho’s concert, where I also casually met and shared some time with two members of GroupLove, another band I honestly didn’t know but that I listen to now.<\/p>\n

Well, that’s all folks (for today). I hope these pills gives you an idea of what life in New York<\/strong> looks like so far, and as you can see, most of it happens in Brooklyn, so I’ll keep you posted on where to next.<\/p>\n
