1. The Infinite Happiness (2015)<\/div>\n

A documentary, The Infinite Happiness follows the lives of residents that dwell in the innovative \u20188′ housing development. This community building in Copenhagen was constructed by Danish architect, Bjarke Ingels. The tenants express their happy and funny everyday stories. There’s also an instance where a resident shares his anxiety towards tourists that explore the building as a public space. In fact, the large ideological barrier of social housing is what 8 seeks to overcome.<\/p>\n

2. The Architect (2016)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

This movie focuses on the life of architect Miles Moss, who has been hired to design the dream house for a married couple. His arrogance, self-centredness and obsession with his work brings out the stereotypes that construct an architect. The bigger question arises: is he building their dream house or his dream masterpiece?<\/p>\n

3. Manhattan (1979)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

The movie Manhattan\u2014directed by Woody Allen\u2014explores the highs and lows of the skyscrapers in the city. A New Yorker himself, Allen inculcates impeccable city scenography and dialogues that make this a poetic jostling of irony and melancholy.<\/p>\n

4. Metropolis (1927)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Although a silent film, Metropolis is deemed as a masterpiece of architectural sci-fi. This film from the early 1900’s is set in a dystopian future. It’s next to impossible to believe that it was made before the advent of computer generated imagery. It is an absolute visual splendour.<\/p>\n

5. Fountainhead (1949)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Howard Roark is an exemplary architect with strong principles, who leaves his wife to accept a project in New York. In this adaptation of Ayn Rand’s novel, there is a twist when his plans are altered without their consent. Frank Llyod Wright has done the architectural designs that appear in this film as he is also the inspiration for the fictional character, Howard Roark.<\/p>\n

6. Midnight in Paris (2011)<\/div>\n

Another Woody Allen masterpiece, Midnight in Paris stars Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams in the lead. The city of Paris becomes an inspiration for Gil, a writer who has been struggling with his novel as he takes a walk at midnight. He falls in love with the city and drifts away from the woman he’s about to marry, Inez.<\/p>\n

7. The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)<\/div>\n

This movie by Wes Anderson pays homage to the bygone European grandeur. It recounts the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune.<\/p>\n
