GMS is a multi-disciplinary, structural engineering and building envelope consulting firm headquartered in New York City, with offices in Los Angeles, California, Stamford, Connecticut, and Bloomfield, New Jersey. \u00a0They take great pride in their expertise in structural design, fa\u00e7ade consulting, special inspections, construction administration, forensic analysis, component and systems engineering, and engineering for construction logistics. \u00a0Since their inception in 1991, GMS has won over 350 project awards and has had the privilege of working with many talented architects, including ten Pritzker Prize winners.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Their staff collaborates with teams across the country, across disciplines, and across our offices. Expertise is shared throughout the firm, via discussions and augmented by our network intranet. Ramon\u2019s experience ranges widely: new buildings, adaptive reuse, special structures such as the tallest building in Spain, the Caja Madrid Tower, to suspending cars in the atrium of the Guggenheim Museum for the Cai Guo-Qiang exhibit. He is an active contributor to the structural engineering community and is currently helping develop new building codes.<\/p>\n

Philip Murray is a founding Partner of Gilsanz Murray Steficek. Over his 40 year career, Mr. Murray has been involved in the design and construction of hospitals, theaters, residential and office towers, civic buildings, museums, as well as the renovation of historical buildings.<\/p>\n

Gary Steficek is a founding Partner of Gilsanz Murray Steficek. In his 40 year career as a structural engineer he has worked on numerous construction and renovation projects. 11 Hoyt Street<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

New York, NY<\/strong><\/p>\n

GMS was retained to provide building envelope consulting services for the development of a new condominium residential development at 11 Hoyt Street in Brooklyn.\u00a0 The building consists of a 57 story tower with one cellar level below grade and a green roof above a two-story podium.<\/p>\n

GMS has been retained to provide building envelope consulting services for two new mixed-use development buildings located at 76 Eleventh Avenue. One tower will be a 28 story \u201cboutique\u201d hotel and the other, a 35 story luxury residential condominium, which will sit atop separate nominal 5 story podiums that will house a combination of occupancies including retail, additional residences, tenant\/guest amenities and back-of-house support spaces.<\/p>\n

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater<\/strong><\/p>\n

New York, NY<\/strong><\/p>\n

GMS served as both the structural engineer and fa\u00e7ade consultant for the new transparent, elegant building for the home for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the largest facility devoted to dance in the United States. From the street the building is a stage due to the almost exclusively glass facades which allow neighbors and pedestrians an unobstructed view of the large open studios and inviting the community to be involved with the dance culture.<\/p>\n
