Palette Architecture <\/strong>is a\u00a0New York City based architecture and design firm. They focus on designing signature buildings and spaces that enhance the daily experience of our contemporary lives. Palette\u2019s<\/strong> three founding partners met in their first architecture studio at Columbia University. After working for several years at internationally renowned architecture offices in New York City, they formed Palette Architecture<\/strong> in 2010.<\/section>\n

What ties them together is a belief that exceptional design results from mutual respect and the formation of shared values with our clients. The diversity of their staff has contributed to an ability to view their projects through multiple lenses – an attitude that they carry forward as their office grows.<\/section>\n

As a younger-generation design practice, they offer an agile and flexible design process. Their design approach centers around their clients\u2019 priorities and values, using them as touchstones over the development of the design. Jeremy\u00a0<\/strong>is an Architect from New Zealand that got the opportunity to work with Palette Architecture<\/strong> in New York City back in 2019 until early 2020. Now he is in Australia in Brisbane working with Blight Rayner Architecture<\/strong> since mid 2020, and he has been enjoying applying some of the skills he was able to improve while working in New York City with Palette.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Palette Architecture\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/a>Selected Projects<\/strong><\/h4>\n

100 Franklin Street<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Located in the Tribeca East Historic District on an irregular shaped site created by the extension of Sixth Avenue in 1938, 100 Franklin is two triangular ground-up residential buildings constructed over ground-floor commercial space. The South building at six floors, has three full-floor units and a duplex penthouse with a private roof level and the North building with eight floors has five full-floor units and a duplex penthouse. The client, DDG Partners, acted as designer, developer, and contractor for the project.<\/div>\n

The building marries old and new, demonstrating how a modern building can be created in a historic district. The project features a hand-laid brick fa\u00e7ade with classically inspired masonry combined with modern architectural detail.<\/div>\n

Collector’s House<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

This historic townhouse located on a street known as Doctor\u2019s Row in Harlem is one of a series of landmarked structures originally designed by William Tuthill, the architect of Carnegie Hall.\u00a0 The owners, a lawyer and a TV producer, with adult children, took over the entire townhouse to have expanded spaces for living, entertaining and showcasing their extensive collection of art, furniture, books and travel souvenirs.\u00a0 The project restored the incredible craftsmanship and architectural detail of this Renaissance Revival townhouse that is over 130 years old while also creating open layouts and modern built-ins that improve the flow of light and movement in the space.<\/p>\n

Patio | House<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Designed for a creative professional and his family, the Patio | House includes two rental units and a duplex owner-apartment.\u00a0 The clients wished to construct a clean, well-lit, Nordic-Modern home set within the shell of a historic Brooklyn Brownstone. \u00a0The clients enjoy hosting gatherings with their design-industry colleagues to discuss and share their ideas.\u00a0 These discussions often took place in a delightful, little, rectangular, brick patio in the rear yard. \u00a0Our design intent was to preserve this patio and bring its quality of intimacy and openness into the body of the house.\u00a0 By creating an open plan with framed views of the rear, we created a series of connections between the interior and exterior.<\/p>\n
