The spring is here! In this post, I will talk about the Botanical Garden<\/a><\/strong> located in the Bronx<\/a><\/strong> as a perfect plan for a Sunday morning. It is not a direct way with the subway but it is quite easygoing to arrive, you can take one of the green lines from the east of Manhattan<\/strong> and then a bus to the garden. The general entry fee<\/a> is 35$ and in the beginning, I was a little bit skeptical. It\u2019s not cheap but, it\u2019s worth it!<\/p>\n

Once you enter no far away from the entrance you will find the Haupt Conservatory<\/a><\/strong>. The building was built 120 years ago and now the dome and the galleries are part of the New York City Landmarks<\/strong>, an enormous glasshouse with an incredible glass dome and different separated galleries where you can discover several habitats. Aquatic plants, desert cactus, tropical rain forests… Two hours of route admiring plants, flowers, and trees with different temperatures and ecosystems. The dome was built by the Lord & Burnham<\/strong> company, quite similar to the Cristal Palace in Madrid<\/strong> but three times bigger. If you have the opportunity to go during April, in the spring weeks, you will see the spectacular cherry blossoms all along with the building and the park, a festival of pink, purple and white colors. Close to the building you will find the perennial garden, created by the garden designer Lynden B. Miller<\/strong>. The colors change during the seasons. The azaleas and the magnolias are incredible too.<\/p>\n

Right now there is an interesting exhibition from the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama<\/a><\/strong>, about cosmic nature. You will find some colorful sculptures in the park, the Dancing Pumpkin, or the Narcissus Garden all influenced by her childhood. Before you finish your visit, don’t forget the shop! It offers you a variety of plants, pots, seeds, books, gardening tools, prints, and nice gifts.<\/p>\n
