AECOM<\/strong> launched when a handful of employees from design and engineering companies shared a dream of creating an industry-leading firm dedicated to making the world a better place.\u00a0<\/span>They became an independent company formed by the merger of five entities. While their official founding was in 1990, many of our predecessor firms had distinguished histories dating back more than 120 years.\u00a0<\/span>Since then, more than 50 companies have joined AECOM<\/strong> and, in 2007, they became a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sustainability<\/strong><\/p>\n

AECOM<\/strong> achieved their\u00a0previous emissions reduction targets ahead of schedule, and have set new science-based targets for 2025 that are in alignment with the Paris Agreement\u2019s goals to limit the worst effects of climate change: a 20% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 10% reduction in supply chain emissions from our 2018 baseline.\u00a0AECOM<\/strong> was the first and only U.S.-based company in the engineering and construction sector to have set approved targets.<\/p>\n
