INTRODUCTION TO THE PSYCHOLOGY OF COLOR<\/strong><\/p>\n

Colors cause\u00a0perceptions<\/strong>\u00a0that we must understand:<\/p>\n

The\u00a0white sunlight<\/strong>\u00a0decomposes in colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. These colors are divided into\u00a0primary<\/strong>\u00a0or fundamental\u00a0colors<\/strong>\u00a0(yellow, red and blue ) and\u00a0secondary colors<\/strong>(orange, green and purple ) arising as a mixture of the above colors.
\nThe colors are also classified in\u00a0warm colors<\/strong>\u00a0(red, orange , yellow) and\u00a0cold colors<\/strong>\u00a0(blue, green , purple )<\/p>\n

Each color has on the person a triple action:
\n– Impress,\u00a0draws attention<\/strong>\u00a0.
\n– Causes a reaction or emotion, as each color is\u00a0capable of expression<\/strong>.
\n– Builds, because each color has its own meaning and\u00a0acquires a symbolic value<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Warm colors<\/strong>\u00a0are considered STIMULANTS, CHEERFUL ands EXCITING and\u00a0cold colors<\/strong>\u00a0are considered CALM, SEDATIVES and in some cases even DEPRESSING.<\/p>\n

Light warm colors suggest FINESSE, FEMININITY, KIDNESS, HOSPITALITY and JOY. Dark warm colors suggest:VITALITY, POWER, WEALTH and STABILITY.<\/p>\n

Light cold colors express FRESH, DELICACY, REST, SOLITUDE, HOPE and PEACE.\u00a0Dark cold colors express MELANCHOLY, DEPRESSION, HEAVINESS and MYSTERY.<\/p>\n

>YELLOW\/AMARILLO<\/strong>: is SUN, LIGHT, JOY, GOOD MOOD. It stimulates the nerve centers. It is the most INTELLECTUAL color. It means ENVY and RAGE. It symbolizes ARROGANCE, POWER and STRENGHT.<\/p>\n

>RED\/ROJO:<\/strong>\u00a0is FIRE, BLOOD, REVOLUTION, PASSION, VIOLENCE and ACTION. Suggests HEAT, EXCITEMENT, MOVEMENT, VITALITY, also CRUELTY and RAGE. It increases muscle tension, breathing activates and stimulates blood pressure. Best suited for people retracted.<\/p>\n

>BLUE\/AZUL:<\/strong>\u00a0color of SKY and WATER. It is SERENITY, PEACE, CALM, INFINITE and COLDNESS. It is INTELLIGENCE, WISDOM and TRUTH. It acts as a painkiller.<\/p>\n

>ORANGE\/NARANJA:<\/strong>\u00a0is ENTHUSIASM, BURNING, EUPHORIA. It acts to facilitate digestion.<\/p>\n

>GREEN\/VERDE:<\/strong>\u00a0is FRESH, NATURE, QUIET, COMFORTING. It is HOPE, SPRING, YOUTH. Color that frees the spirit and balances sensations.<\/p>\n

>PURPLE\/VIOLETA:<\/strong>\u00a0is DEPTH, MYSTERY, MYSTICISM, MELANCHOLY. SEDATIVE action.<\/p>\n

>PINK\/ROSA:<\/strong>\u00a0is LOVE, ROMANCE, SOFTNESS, DELICACY.<\/p>\n

>WHITE\/BLANCO:<\/strong>\u00a0is PURITY, CANDOR, INNOCENCE. It means PEACE.<\/p>\n

>BLACK\/NEGRO:<\/strong>\u00a0is the absence of color. It is SADNESS AND GRIEF. Symbol of evil. It slims.<\/p>\n

>BROWN\/MARR\u00d3N:<\/strong>\u00a0is EARTH, SIMPLICITY, UTILITY.<\/p>\n

>GREY\/GRIS:<\/strong>\u00a0(mixture of black and white) is NEUTRALITY, FUSION OF SADNESS and JOY,OF THE GOOD AND BAD.<\/p>\n

>GOLD\/ORO:<\/strong>\u00a0WEALTH and OPULENCE<\/p>\n

>SILVER\/PLATA:<\/strong>\u00a0NOBILITY and DISTINCTION<\/p>\n

CONTRAST<\/strong><\/p>\n

The color\u00a0intervenes in the object properties<\/strong>, in the\u00a0figure-ground relationship<\/strong>\u00a0and in the\u00a0perception of the object geometry<\/strong>.
\nThe tone and contrast affect to the apparent dimensions and shapes of the objects:
\n-A Light color on a dark background seems lighter than it really is. A dark color on a light background looks even darker.
\n-If the color is more intense it seems to occupy less space. If the color is less intense it appears that its area is bigger.<\/p>\n
