In order to stay sane in these times, getting away from home even just for a couple of\u00a0days is priceless. For Labor Day<\/strong>, we decided to head North and stay a night at The Garrison<\/strong>, a picturesque golf resort near a little\u00a0town, also called Garrison.<\/p>\n

We took a Metro-North train from Grand Central<\/strong> to Garrison, from where it was only a 10 minute Uber drive to the place. While Garrison (the town) itself is not particularly nice or interesting, the Inn and its\u00a0surroundings were something else. It is located at a higher elevation, with stunning views to the Hudson and the whole area. We settled in our room (which was really spacious yet cozy, and had a king-sized bed), then headed out to discover the area. Although it would have been the perfect time to try golfing for the first time, since there was no staff due to COVID<\/strong>, and everyone seemed to really know what they were doing on the court, we decided we wouldn’t want to be a nuisance to everyone else, and rather have an instructor with us once we do decide to try it.<\/p>\n

After collecting a bunch of golf balls\u00a0and walking\u00a0around, we headed back to the room to rest for a few minutes before setting off for\u00a0dinner. One of the biggest selling points of the place is its fine dining restaurant called The Valley<\/strong>. From the service through the meals to the incredible\u00a0views from the patio, the whole dining experience was excellent, I’d greatly recommend it to everyone.<\/p>\n

We started the\u00a0next day with a short\u00a0hike in the area that led to the top of a hill with great\u00a0views to the river, and a few hours later we ended up in Cold Spring<\/strong>,\u00a0a beautiful little town with a buzzing main street. After spending the afternoon there, my Uncle – who lives in Sleepy Hollow<\/strong>, not far from there\u00a0– picked us up, and we drove back to his house, so we could have dinner with the family – a great ending to our wonderful weekend trip.<\/p>\n
