As we arrive to the end of July<\/strong>, we are finishing up our second month of the Architect-US Portfolio Challenge<\/strong>, <\/strong>and it has been a rewarding experience\u00a0to showcase\u00a0the incredible\u00a0work of our top-notch\u00a0talent here at\u00a0<\/strong>Architect-US<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have posted the work of 9<\/b>\u00a0different artists during this month across all of our platforms, but in order to win the $30 Amazon Gift Card<\/strong> for this month, the talent’s work must have garnered the most likes on Instagram<\/strong>. So without further a do… the winner for the month of July<\/strong>\u00a0is….\u00a0Yi Jun Aston<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0!!!! Aston<\/strong>‘s submitted project, The Hive @ Sydney, Australia<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0got 256\u00a0<\/strong>likes on Instagram over the month of July! Smashing our previous record of 106 likes<\/strong> last month!<\/p>\n

Aston<\/strong>\u00a0recently graduated from University of Hartford<\/strong><\/a> for their Masters in Architecture, and has been working at Marin Architects<\/strong><\/a> in New York City since 2018. Aston <\/strong>stated that\u00a0“The entire architecture is structurally designed in a modular grid system to control the cost of built of every unit. With the characteristic of having a grid system, the housing are built vertically up with minimal land used and the units are extended horizontally on upper levels.”\u00a0Aston\u00a0<\/strong>created this project originally as a submission to the\u00a0International Architecture Competition – Beebreeders<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0second place<\/strong> was\u00a0Diego C\u00f3rdova<\/a>‘s<\/b>\u00a0Community & Agricultural Center<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0186 <\/strong>likes on Instagram.\u00a0C\u00f3rdova <\/b>finished his Bachelors\u00a0degree in Architecture from the\u00a0Universidad San Francisco de Quito<\/strong><\/a> in 2019.\u00a0<\/span>He aimed to reinterpret the Green Houses used to create food for the community in Yaraqui<\/strong>. The planning allows for the crops to avoid steep inclines and try to incorporate the community into the growth process for their own food.<\/span><\/p>\n

In third\u00a0place<\/strong> was\u00a0Andr\u00e9s Conejero Conesa<\/a>‘s\u00a0Auroville Urban Axis, Urban Densification and Architectural Strategies in Southeastern India<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>with 172<\/strong>\u00a0likes on Instagram.\u00a0Conesa\u00a0<\/strong>got the opportunity to travel to India to work with\u00a0Anupama Kundoo Architects<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>while fulfilling his requirements for his\u00a0Master of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0Conesa<\/strong>\u00a0graduated from ETSAM<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in 2019 and is now chasing his dreams in Los Angeles with Morphosis<\/a><\/strong>!<\/p>\n

In\u00a0fourth<\/strong>\u00a0place\u00a0<\/strong>was\u00a0Ines Gulbenkian’<\/a>s\u00a0<\/strong>POLYMONOPOLY<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0with 168<\/strong>\u00a0likes on Instagram. Gulbenkian<\/strong> finished her\u00a0Masters in Architecture from the Royal College of Art <\/a><\/strong>in 2018.\u00a0Gulbenkian<\/strong> stated that,”This project focuses on the impacts of tourism on the social fabric of the city by trying to understand the manifestation and consequences of tourism and the ways it affects urban and social landscapes.”<\/p>\n

In\u00a0fifth place<\/strong> was\u00a0Enrique de Pablo Nuevo<\/a>‘s<\/strong>\u00a0Madrid Art<\/strong>\u00a0Lab<\/b><\/a>\u00a0with 134<\/strong> likes on Instagram. Nuevo\u00a0<\/strong>went to\u00a0Universidad CEU San Pablo<\/strong><\/a> \u00a0and asked himself the following question when creating this project:\u00a0how do we remain artists as we grow up? \u200bPablo Nuevo<\/strong> views the Art Lab as\u00a0a training and fabrication art center for children where boys and girls can develop their creativity in a family environment. He is now looking to make the move to the US to push his career even further along! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

In sixth\u00a0place<\/strong> was\u00a0Javier Martin de la Fuente<\/a>‘s\u00a0<\/strong>Growing Curiosity<\/strong><\/a> with\u00a0132<\/strong>\u00a0likes on Instagram.\u00a0Fuente<\/strong>\u00a0set three principles as their core concept: Curiosity, Creativity and Interhuman Connection<\/strong>. \u00a0Fuente<\/strong>\u00a0went to\u00a0The\u00a0University of Technology Sydney<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and he worked along with\u00a0Jan-Niklas Klein to create this beautiful work. Now,\u00a0Fuentes<\/strong> is working at\u00a0SHoP Architects<\/strong><\/a> in New York City\u00a0chasing his Career Dreams!<\/p>\n

In\u00a0seventh place<\/strong> was\u00a0Marina Vidal Tejedor<\/a>‘s\u00a0<\/strong>Retire for Buddhist<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0with 113<\/strong>\u00a0likes on Instagram.\u00a0Vidal Tejedor<\/strong>\u00a0created a space in which buddhist monks are able to live and connect with their spirituality. Buddhism is a way of life more than a religious establishment, thus the practice of buddhism is crucial to its survival.\u00a0Vidal Tejedor<\/strong> went to the\u00a0Polytechnic Institute of Madrid<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and graduated\u00a0with a degree in Architecture.<\/p>\n

In eighth\u00a0place<\/strong> was\u00a0Dariya Cheremisina<\/a>‘s\u00a0MAUNSELL SEA FORTS<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>with 110<\/strong>\u00a0likes on Instagram.\u00a0Cheremisina<\/strong>\u00a0was working on this project as part of her studies at\u00a0Architectural Association School of architecture<\/strong><\/a>, second year, bachelor.\u00a0Cheremisina<\/strong>\u00a0seeks to highlight the beauty of the\u00a0Maunsel sea forts in Whitstable.<\/p>\n

In ninth place<\/strong>\u00a0was\u00a0Maria da Silva Menezes Reis’<\/a>s\u00a0<\/strong>Roman Museum in Alc\u00e1cer do Sal<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>with 71 <\/strong>likes on Instagram. Alc\u00e1cer do Sal <\/strong>is on the Alentejo coast, which is south of Set\u00fabal district. The\u00a0city grew from the center out towards the river due to the economic benefits, but later on the city saw a slow decentralization outside of the city walls.\u00a0Menezes Reis\u00a0<\/strong>emphasized that the project intends to reflect on the relation that architecture establishes with its past.<\/p>\n
