Maine, the way life should be!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Not long ago I decided to explore a little bit more New England<\/strong>, the North-East of the US. It was during fall when the lanscape was simply mesmerizing with the colorful trees everywhere.<\/p>\n

I\u00b4ve been recommended to also explore\u00a0Portsmouth, New Hampshire<\/strong>, which was on the way to Portland, Maine<\/strong>. That way I divided a long six hour drive and had a more enjoyable road trip. As I find\u00a0quite interesting the license plates here in the US, where each one of them\u00a0has\u00a0it’s own slogan, the most common one\u00a0in New Hampshire is ”live free or die”.<\/p>\n

As I mentioned before, all this area is called New England. Therefore, you can also find Portsmouth, New Hampshire in the US as well as in the UK. This is a small charming town that preserves the british style, not as turistic as other cities, but a place where you can find local stores and shops. Meanwhile, you can explore the port area and have an ice cream at Annabelle\u2019s Natural Ice Cream. One of my favorite things here was the Strawbery Banke Museum<\/em>, where the people dress and behave like they were back in the 1600s. This is the oldest neighborhood in New England to be settled by Europeans. Here you can find mutiple buildings in the Colonial and Georgian architectural style. One way or another, it takes you back in time to when the Europeans came to the US, somewhere between the 17th and 19th century. Other two places that deserve a visit are Market Square and the Old Harbour. Not far from here, there is Wentworth by The Sea Marina, an ideal place for a weekend\u00a0gateaway\u00a0surrounded by nature and the river.<\/p>\n

The next day we continued all the way up to Portland, Maine, with a few short stops. One of them was Wiggly Bridge and Steedman Woods, a tourist attraction in York, Maine<\/strong>. This might be the world’s smallest suspension bridge<\/em> that connects to a short trail with scenic views of the landscape. Not far from here there is York Harbor Beach, that seems a bit more relaxed than the busy shore in New Jersey. As we kept going North, you can find Long Sands Beach and the Nubble Lighthouse.\u00a0A more touristic place that counts with a rocky coast and beaches. I might enjoy\u00a0the different lighthouses on the East Coast, but this area is surely\u00a0famous\u00a0for them. The most famous one is located near Portland, Maine, known as Portland Head Lighthouse. It’s\u00a0a well-known lighthouse one sees on the default images on the desktop. Sunset here is a truly delightful scene. Other two small gorgeous towns are Ogunquit and Kennebunkport. Overall, the coast from Portsmith, New Hampshire to Portland, Maine is fantastic.<\/p>\n

Once arrived in Maine, after an adventurous road trip with many stops along the way we had lunch at DiMillo\u00b4s On The Water, a floating restaurant with harbour views. The clams, lobsters and oysters are such a thing here. This is something one absolutely cannot miss out on!! An architectural gem to highlight in Portland is Victoria Mansion, a 19th-century Italian villa-style home.\u00a0<\/em>To sum up my experience here would be seafood and breweries, vivid nightlife and European-style streets and architecture on the North-East Coast. And last but not least, here is another tiny lighthouse called Bug Light that goes to my collection.<\/p>\n

Fall is my favorite season and the scenic landscape was unbelievebly beautiful. I dream of going\u00a0back some time\u00a0in the summer to enjoy the rocky coast and it’s beautiful beaches.<\/p>\n
