Coming close to the end of the year so it is the perfect time to take a look at some of the most iconic projects of 2019<\/strong>. What where your favorite projects this year? Did you take part in a design competition? Architecture is a great medium to reflect and to represent the current state of society. So, its fitting that we discuss how far we\u2019ve gotten and which projects unveiled this year deserve recognition. Given there has been a lot of interesting projects and developments in lately, we thought we\u2019d give you a rundown of some our favorite projects.<\/p>\n

1. Under by Snohetta<\/strong><\/p>\n

Located in the south coast of Norway, this restaurant design also functions as a center for the scope of Marine research and serves as tribute to all marine life. The design itself dives into the water to give its visitors a look into the ocean, acting as a literal metaphor for the voyage of descent into the water. A beautiful culmination to the progression we\u2019ve made in preserving our environment and its inhabitants.<\/p>\n

2. Camp Adventure by EFFEKT<\/strong><\/p>\n

A design which is respectful and mindful of the surrounding and gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy time outside and the beautiful landscape of the country. With panoramic views for you to take nature in, this Danish project gives you the chance to experience a unique connection with nature. The tall structure is made out of steel with oak to blend into the environment, and rises 140 meters above sea level.<\/p>\n

3. Oodi Helsinki Central Library by ALA Architects<\/strong><\/p>\n

This Finnish library is located in the center of Helsinki\u2019s cultural district and is a direct expression of communication between the country and its inhabitants. It is meant to promote education and the freedom of communication and expression. Its construction is comprised of materials provided by the locals and is conscious of the climate conditions.<\/p>\n

4. The Shed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro<\/strong><\/p>\n

Located in New York, the Shed has been constructed as a nonprofit cultural organization that provides a platform for artists and designers to display original works of art in their respective disciplines. This gallery space has an open infrastructure is made with a movable 37-meter-tall mobile shell. \u00a0The architects have also made sure that its construction has a energy conscious design and surpasses New York\u2019s energy codes by 25%.<\/p>\n

5. National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts by Mecanoo<\/strong><\/p>\n

Located in the former military barracks of the Fengshan District of Kaohsiung in Taiwan, this design for the Cultural Center will be Taiwan\u2019s first international performance cultural venue. \u00a0Its design provides an abundant amount of different performance spaces such as an Opera hall, a concert hall, a playhouse, recital hall, and an outdoor Theater all which can sit thousands of people. A truly beautiful design that will bring cultural diversity to this now contemporary city.<\/p>\n
