We\u2019ve seen some increase in the minimum wage<\/strong> -the lowest hourly pay- in some of the states of the United States. Right now, the federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour -government mandated nationwide wage- but in some states and cities inside the U.S. they have a higher minimum wage rate. Currently there are 29 states that have a minimum wage higher than that of the federal minimum wage, but you must also take into consideration that living costs and other everyday expenses a slightly higher in some of these cities as well. According by data provided by provided by the\u00a0Economic Policy Institute, the\u00a0National Conference of State Legislatures, and the\u00a0Labor Law Center, here are the 10 highest minimum wages in the U.S.<\/strong> as of beginning of 2019:<\/p>\n

1. Arizona:<\/strong>\u00a0$11.00<\/p>\n

2. California:<\/strong>\u00a0$12 (employers with 26 or more employees, otherwise $11)<\/em><\/p>\n

3. Colorado:<\/strong>\u00a0$11.10<\/p>\n

4. District of Columbia:<\/strong>\u00a0$14.00 (as of 7\/1\/19)<\/em><\/p>\n

5. Maine:<\/strong> $11\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

6. Massachusetts:<\/strong>\u00a0$12<\/p>\n

7. New York:<\/strong>\u00a0$11.10<\/p>\n

8. Oregon:<\/strong>\u00a0$11.25\u00a0(as of 7\/1\/19)<\/em><\/p>\n

9. Vermont:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>$10.78<\/p>\n

10. Washington:<\/strong>\u00a0$12.00<\/p>\n

You just have to make sure that you do a little research on any given state so that you can get an idea of what the average living costs are, transportation<\/a>, and any other expenses that may apply when looking at these locations.
