My first Thanksgiving Stateside was every bit the food-coma inducing experience I had anticipated and a fantastic warm-up to the upcoming festive holiday period.<\/p>\n<p>Moving on, I\u2019ve checked another spectacular house off of the old architectural bucket list: the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lamag.com\/askchris\/ever-wanted-go-jackie-treehorns-house-big-lebowski\/\">Big Lebowski<\/a>\u2019 famous <a href=\"http:\/\/jamesfgoldstein.com\/?page_id=881\">Sheats-Goldstein Residence<\/a>. As stated in previous posts, my relationship with architecture really began with my introduction to the housing typology developed in and synonymous with Los Angeles and so to finally be living in the city itself and having the chance to visit these landmarks is a childhood dream come true.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>iconic Sheats-Goldstein Residence<\/strong> was originally designed by John Lautner and built for the Sheats family, the house was bought by James Goldstein in the 70s and a transformation began. Lautner was drafted back in and the pair spent the next 20 years adding to, remodelling and perfecting the house into the ultramodern icon that it is today. It features built-in concrete furniture, roof and wall panels that slide open at the touch of a button and even a windowed swimming pool.<\/p>\n<p>If you ever get the chance to visit the Sheats-Goldstein house, no is not an answer you can give. It truly is a jewel in the Los Angeles hillside.
