ARCHTOBER

October is not a good month due to the temperatures decreasing. However, it is very beautiful because of the reddish colors and the magic which the city is accompanied with. New York City prepares for the transition to the cold season.

In addition, this month has plenty of events, especially for Architecture and Design. I went to the Film Festival at SoHo showrooms, having the chance to see some interesting products and hanging out with friends. There were more cool events like guided visits and special lectures about architecture history, highlighting the Rem Koolhaas’ lecture about his research work on the Countryside.

I want to continue talking about the relocation of our office. I was the main responsible for taking care of plants and pots. Lucky me everything went well. “At your command, boss!”
I am currently living in Greenpoint, the Little Poland. This neighborhood has a lot of small shops and the largest Polish community in New York City. After discovering its places, I strongly recommend the Christina’s restaurant, at 853 Manhattan Ave.
Of course, this great city, well known as the “Big Apple” or “the city that never sleeps” has a crazy rhythm of life. As a matter of fact, the infonuevayork.com website states that there is a 8 million population, in a state which has a total population of 20 million. I think they are quite striking figures.

Well… you will have noticed that in this post I have not used any saying yet. Some reader told me that I use too many. I’m sorry, I like them a lot and it is time to use two more, one hilarious and another one about the future. Go for it. First “I don’t believe in astrology; I’m Sagittarius and we’re skeptical”, signed by Arthur C. Clarke. He co-wrote the screenplay for the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey one of the most influential films of all time, directed by Stanley Kubrick. Second, “You cannot change your future. But you can change your habits. And surely your habits will change your future”. This quote corresponds to A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former president of India already deceased in 2015.

That’s all folks! (The third unexpected saying from Bugs Bunny!) We will talk next month. And as a Japanese proverb says “If you believe everything you read, better to not read”.
