A trip to Colorado

One thing that I had been looking forward to doing while in the US was going skiing. For the ones who have followed my blog or read my other posts you will know that New York hasn’t offered much snow this year. None at all to be specific. Barely even outside of the city.

So I had to go looking for snow somewhere else, and my search brought me to Colorado. So I packed my skis and made sure to bring my seasonal Epic pass for skiing in the US and hopped on a flight to Denver.

Before moving to New York I had only visited the coasts in the US, so my trip to Colorado was the first to the midwest. I was staying in Frisco, about 1,5 hours drive from Denver in order to be close to some of the best ski areas the US has to offer but I am happy I did more than just skiing on the trip.

Colorado had me enjoy some really cold weather but it was sure worth it for the snow. And while Vail and Breckenridge truly delivered on the skiing, I also got to discover the hot springs of Colorado, visit the highest city in the US, go to a proper saloon, view the highest peaks of the Rockies and enjoy the change of scenery while driving through the state. Scenery that would really change over a 1 hour drive as you can see in some of my pictures from the trip.

As you can see there was a lot of the «highest» and with most of Colorado being set at a high altitude that makes sense. The valleys and cities are set at around the 3000 meter mark meaning tops reach up to over 4000 meters in most places. I felt like this was quite interesting in the way I perceived the landscape. Because although the tops go up to the impressive 4000 meters it is not something that you really understand, unless you feel the altitude sickness. Let’s just say I was told to drink a lot of water going to a high altitude place like Colorado.

I had a truly positive experience in Colorado and Vail was definitely worth it as I think it for sure makes the list of my top ski experiences.

As I am back in NYC I am now looking forward to some spring vibes as the skis are being stored until next winter.

Talk to you soon again!
