Going South

The route itself is worthy to be done, it’s amazing to be driving trough a 7 miles bridge and to explore these tiny islands full of wildlife.

Winter in New York is being harder than expected, and with some months of cold weather still left we were feeling in need of a break! So looking for warmer destinations we decided to go on a trip around Florida.

First stop was Miami, and it was surprisingly different from the cities we already knew here in the States. There you get to feel the mix between North American and Latin American cultures, and it’s not only because of the language (Spanish is widely spoken) but the city itself and their inhabitants are unique.

In Miami we rented a car to go to the Everglades, one of the wonders of the state. We spent only one day there, hiking, seeing the animals and enjoying the nature, but the park is endless and there are many activities that you can do there if you have more time.

Next day we drove our car again, this time all the way down to Key West making stops here and there to visit the other keys.  The route itself is worthy to be done, it’s amazing to be driving trough a 7 miles bridge and to explore these tiny islands full of wildlife. And the final destination didn’t disappoint us either, the town is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing stay.

Our trip was already about to finish, so we finally went back to Miami (beach this time) to spend the last two days there and recharge our batteries. I won’t say that we were missing the cold weather, but it is definitely easier to handle it with a nice tan!
