I recently discovered that less than two hours’ drive from Orlando is located the oldest Spanish settlement in North America: Saint Augustine or “San Agustín” in our language. As a Spanish guy living in the United States was mandatory to pay a visit.
I was very surprised to find a complete celebration of the Spanish roots and a tribute to Pedro Menéndez de Avilés and the rest of founders of the city. Even the local flag is based on the old kingdom of Castilla one and there are still descendants of the original population. The city itself is very interesting and will remind everyone to any small town in Spain, which makes it unique and very popular not only in Florida but in all United States.
For some hours I felt back home!
