Architect-US

12 hours until take off

After different work experiences in my home country I can’t wait to try something new and exciting in New York!

Hey everyone!

My name is Maria and I am enjoying the last moments in Spain before my new life begins in New York. I am packing more stuff than I need, saying good bye to my friends and family for the fifth time and I am flying tomorrow to JFK!

I am an architect from Valencia, I graduated a couple years ago and I have had a couple different work experiences since then. Through studying architecture I always wanted to get to know different cultures and architecture styles. For this reason the United States and in particular New York always appeal to me and when I finished my last project in Valencia I thought it was the right moment to live the American experience.

The first step was to prepare a good looking portfolio and an enthusiastic cover letter. I had everything ready and in a couple months. I lost track of how many emails I sent and applications I filled in, the routine of searching a host company felt like a job by itself. I received many answers to my applications and some of them led to several interviews. When during those I was asked about my Visa situation I always said “Not a problem” but I wasn’t that sure at all. I did my own research and found J1 Visa as the optimal one for my situation and preferences, but only when I found Architect-US I believed it was going to work out.

The Visa process was quite stressful but Patricia and Emilia of Architect-US guided me kindly step by step and everything went smoothly even when I was impatient and persistent 🙂 They have been very professional and useful and overall I am happy with the experience with Architect-US. I encourage anyone who is interested in a similar program to get in touch with them.

I can’t wait to start my training experience at MN and explore New York!
