Architect-US

Goodbye Scotland, Hello New York!

The programme made the visa process straightforward, simple to navigate and is perfect for an architecture graduate in my position who wants to travel while gaining invaluable professional and cultural experience.

Hi! I am Claire and I have just graduated with a Masters in Architecture from the University of Dundee in Scotland. After 7 long and very committed years of study I made the decision that I would like to spend the next few years travelling and experiencing culture around the world, all the while gaining experience in the profession of architecture.

Having spent a number of my summers during university working at a summer camp in New Jersey, where made many great friends and unforgettable memories, I felt like it was a natural choice of place to spend the next 18 months. During these summers I was able to visit New York City on days off and only wished I could spend more time there.

At first I thought a visa would be unobtainable, until I came across Architect-US. The programme made the visa process straightforward, simple to navigate and is perfect for an architecture graduate in my position who wants to travel while gaining invaluable professional and cultural experience. Furthermore the staff have been extremely helpful throughout the entire process and it is reassuring to know they will continue to help upon my arrival to the US.

My vague plan has now become a reality and all of a sudden my departure date has arrived! While I will miss my family, friends and the beautiful landscapes of Scotland, I am so very excited to start my new job and experience a snapshot of life in New York City. Pictured is my favourite good luck gift- the ‘Spatula of Liberty’!
