Hello there!! One month here in New York, no words to describe how I feel. It is been so intense, so amazing in every single aspect. To be honest, the first week was hard but after that, I feel like at home. This is my first month in New York as J1 Visa.
I found a place to live 15 minutes by bike from my office, and here in New York, I can feel proud of that! About my office, OMA is the place for an architect who loves what he does, everybody here is so smart and so creative that I can’t stop learning! The rhythm here is so intense that you can’t imagine how many things you can do in just one week, only this month I have been working on four different projects, all of them awesome.
However, the hardest part of this experience is the distance, I am so far from the people I love, that is like…ok, I am doing what I most like in the world, but my family and my friends and my country are so far away, I miss you so much!
During my first month in New York as a J1 Visa, I have met here in New York so many Spanish people in the same situation as me that is impossible to figure out why our country doesn’t allow us to work in a decent condition. I only hope the situation in Spain changes, honestly.
Anyway, to everybody who is about to finish or owns an architecture, engineer or any career, please love yourself and fight for a fair work position! Don’t hesitate to leave our country until everything changes, I am sure it will! that’s how I feel during my first month in New York as J1 Visa.
