Celebrity spotting in the Santa Monica mountains

Driving along Mulholland Drive road it’s not just the view, it’s the feeling you get, looking over the city is all seems very glamorous and other worldly.

I’ve been in Los Angeles for a while now but not really seen anyone famous. Before I moved here I imagined I would be standing line behind Larry David in Whole Foods or just happen to be at the table next to Jennifer Aniston in a cafe, but turns out we don’t really hang out at the same places.  So last weekend I decided it was time to take a more proactive approach and planned on combining a hike in the mountains with some celeb spotting.

I live in Culver City which is great for getting to most places in LA and the drive from there to Runyon Canyon, at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains is really beautiful. The Northern entrance to the canyon is on Mulholland Drive, which seemed like the perfect start to my hollywood celebrity search. Driving along Mulholland Drive road it’s not just the view, it’s the feeling you get, looking over the city is all seems very glamorous and other worldly. However Mulholland Drive is crazily long and very winding so a good place to stop and appreciate the view is the Hollywood Bowl Overlook.
Once we arrived at the Runyon Canyon entrance we took the path heading down hill. This route passes by Runyon Canyon Ranch, which was used as a location in Beverly Hills 90210 and loads of other TV show and films. The canyon path is basically a 2.5 mile loop which took an about an hour to walk. Everyone takes the walking pretty seriously make sure you’re dresses to impress and ideally have a really cute small dog with you!
Full disclosure –  I didn’t actually see any famous people! Better luck next time I guess 🙂
