ARCHITECT-US 1st GENERATION

In Architect-US we work hard to help young talent propelling their architectural professional career in one of the most competitive market; the American market. We are glad to announce you that seven of Architect-US Training Program participants are already working in some of the leading U.S. based companies, both in Architecture and Engineering, and we want you to learn a little bit about their story.

Claudia Conde, 25, is a young architect and urban planner. Graduated from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid less than a year ago in June 2015, already has an outstanding curriculum to date. It’s not surprising that HOK (Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum) got highly interested in her. HOK is one of the largest Architecture companies in the US, and 2015 #1 Top Architecture/Engineering Firm in ENR‘s survey of Top 500 design firms. With more than 60 years of experience in the field, it has a network of 1.800 people distributed among 24 offices across 3 continents. HOK, with countless projects and numerous awards to their credit, has also won the competition for the new Barcelona’s basket team Arena.

Claudia got an amazing opportunity, but she was not the only only one. One of our first candidates, Luna Lopez, is currently working with Cetra Ruddy. This New York city-based architecture and interior design firm, has projects all over the country and the Middle East. Founded in 1987, counts with a staff of over 75 members. Worth mentioning is one of their latest projects, One Madison. Widely awarded (including the AIA NY Housing Design Award) was designed in partnership with OMA, Rem Koolhaas’s prestigious firm.

But we know there are as many ways of understanding architecture as architects in this world, and that’s why in Architect-US Training Program, we try and offer a diverse range of options. If the last two were impressive companies, the following has nothing to envy them for. Manifold Architecture Studio (MAS), as they describe it, is a smaller studio with strong interests in space, behaviors, relationships and the manipulations thereof. Their firm operates on the belief that architecture and design should exist on multiple scales with varying programs, from single-family residences, a stand-alone retail store, small installations to multi-family housing and large-scale design competitions. This is the playground where Susana Zarraga is developing her skills.

We’ve mention this before, and even if this seems as an architect’s world, we already have an engineer partnered with an american company. His name is Ignacio Ansorena, and he is a civil Engineer of Cantabria’s University, with a Master’s degree in “Civil Engineering and Construction” of the ‘Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, ParisTech. His host company is GMS (Gilsanz Murray Steficek), specialized in Building Structures and founded in 1991. During its 25 of existence GMS has managed to land a large amount of projects, ranging from Academic and Transportation to Art installations.

This have been only four out of the seven, that already are benefiting from this amazing experience. With them we have: Stefania Sconfienza (JMPAC), Julia Castaño (Scalar Architecture), and Esteban Becerril (APT). All of them young architects with promising careers ahead of them.
